PROJECT MANAGER

Full-time Position with Benefits, Phone, Gas Card, Paid Time Off, Professional Training & Development

Company: Bluewater Restoration, Reports To General Manager

As a professional Project Manager, you manage teams within our company; work with trade partners; create work orders; change orders; adhere to and maintain budgets and schedules to stay on budget and on time; complete repair work as expeditiously as possible.  We expect our Project Managers to master team building, communicate clearly with all parties, and ensure team cohesion between company-customer-teams. Project management for unexpected property loss is challenging. Successful Project Managers are proactive and nimble with scheduling materials and labor. With this skill set, you will generate a streamlined and successful finished product. Project Managers know that it is vital to have good relationships with vendors and support staff.  Creating good working relationships with homeowners, co-workers, and subcontractors helps ensure projects are professionally controlled and executed. By keeping in close communication with the Project Estimator and Operations Manager, you can be sure to keep the project on budget. It is expected that much of a Project Manager’s time will be spent in the field.

  • Five years of field experience working on water, fire, or mold restoration projects. Industry certifications are important.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience (construction management)
  • Construction project management experience is very important, and you should be willing to learn new processes specific to our team

  • See through to the completion of projects with trade partners, deliver a successful restoration to homeowners, and satisfy the budget and scope of the repairs
  • Provide needed community service to others and hopefully realize satisfaction with yourself in the awesome work you are doing

  • Set clear expectations for all partners and vital team players

Requirements

  • Criminal background check
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation to work
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work in all types of both indoor and outdoor conditions
  • Frequently required to use personal protective equipment, having the ability to stand or walk, occasionally bending, squatting, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Medium Work – Exerting up to 50lbs of force occasionally, up to 30lbs of force frequently, up to 10lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body
  • Standing – For sustained periods
  • Walking – Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another
  • Stooping – Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
  • Kneeling – Bending legs at the knee to come to rest on the knee or knees
  • Crouching – Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
  • Crawling – Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet
  • Fingering – Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand as in handling
  • Repetitive Motion – Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Grasping – Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
  • Talking – Expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word to others accurately and quickly when necessary
  • Hearing – Receiving detailed information through oral communication at normal speaking levels with or without correction
  • Vision – Close visual acuity to perform activities such as; preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer monitor, and reading with or without correction
  • 5+ years’ experience handling emergency mitigation services in residential/commercial restoration
  • 5+ years in the insurance restoration industry
  • Project management experience in the construction or insurance restoration
  • IICRC certifications in WRT and ASD
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office user; Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to lead/motivate and manage others daily in a positive manner
  • Effective organizational, stress, and time management skills; proven ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills with people from all walks of life
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and accountable
  • Ability to work after hours/on-call on a rotational basis

What it Means to be a Successful Project Manager

  • Works with sub-contractors and owners after stressful property losses such as fire or flood to successfully clean up and repair damage to residential and commercial property
  • Manages the expectations of the property owner throughout their renovation
  • Controls and manages the services required for the repairs
  • Manages the established repair budget and communicates the budget effectively with all parties
  • Spends a good deal of time in the field to ensure projects get completed properly
  • Builds much-needed trust between all teams by:
    • clearly setting project expectations and goals
    • actively listening
    • finding ways to manage a team who will complete projects successfully
  • Confirms budget and work orders before the start of the project
  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations
  • Seek partnerships to improve performance with vendors and tradesmen
